Certified Agile Business Analysis (CABA)
This course explains how business analysis is performed in an agile environment. It explores the responsibilities of the Agile Business Analyst and how requirements discovery, analysis, and delivery differ from traditional approaches.
Participants learn practical techniques for defining needs, delivering value, supporting collaboration, and contributing to continuous improvement. Examples and a case study demonstrate how these techniques can be applied within an agile team.
This course is based on the IIBA publication “Agile Extension to the BABOK Guide” (ISBN: 978-1927584088).
CONTENT OF THE COURSE
What is business analysis?
This module explains what business analysis is. It defines the business analyst and its scope. Then, competencies of a business analyst are discussed.
What is agile?
This module discusses the difference between traditional and agile system development life cycles. We zoom into values defined in Agile Manifesto and underpinning 12 Agile Principles. We discuss the values and principles in context of agile development.
Common agile approaches
In this module, we discuss a generic agile process, as well as the roles and representations of the business analysis discipline. We also shortly introduce most popular agile methods: SCRUM, XP, Lean and Kanban.
Business Analysis techniques for agile teams
This module introduces business analysis as defined in BABOK® and the Agile Extension. It also introduces the seven principles of agile business analysis.
Principle 1: See the Whole
This module explains why it is important to analyze the business need in the context of big picture. It introduces a number of techniques that ensure the context remains clear throughout the development. These techniques are: business capability assessment, value stream mapping, and persona.
Principle 2: Think as a Customer
In this module, we discuss importance of incorporating the voice of the customer in agile development through a clear understanding of the expected user experience.
Principle 3: Analyze To Determine What Is Valuable
This module discusses what business value is and how it can be evaluated. Business analysts continuously assess and prioritize work to ensure maximal value is delivered to the organization.
Principle 4: Get Real Using Examples
This module introduces Behavior Driven Development and Gherkin language to specify acceptance criteria.
Principle 5: Understand What Is Doable
In this module, we discuss concepts of real options and last responsible moment. This module also explains the planning workshops and relative estimates.
Principle 6: Stimulate Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
This module stresses that in agile environment all stakeholders contribute to value creation. The importance of the proper stakeholder engagement is explained.
Principle 7: Avoid Waste
This module discusses the importance of assessing what activities add value and dropping these activities that are wasteful. We discuss the importance of lean documentation.
Review and Closure
This module summarizes the learnings from the course and closes it.
At the end of the third day, participants receive an exam voucher and can schedule their exam online or at a test center.
EXAM FORMAT
It is a one-hour, closed-book exam with 40 multiple-choice questions. Candidates receive an additional 15 minutes if the exam is taken in a language that is not their native or official language.
The pass mark is 65%: 26 correct answers out of 40.
Candidates who pass the exam receive the A4Q IQBBA Certified Agile Business Analysis (CABA) certificate.

The course costs € 1895,00 (excluding 21% VAT) per person. This amount includes training materials and exam costs.
EXAM
The exam costs € 210,00 (excluding 21% VAT) and is included in the price.
COURSE MATERIAL
Delegates will receive a binder with slides (including speaker notes) and a book “Beyond Requirements: Analysis with an Agile Mindset (Agile Software Development)” by Kent J. McDonald.
